CELEBRATING INDEPENDENCE DAY WITH FRESH BERRIES AND SIMPLE DESSERTS


Fireworks, parades, and barbecues with family, along with red, white and blue all pair perfectly to celebrate Independence Day! This combination make a simple entertaining theme. Here are a few ways to incorporate red, white and blue into your menu.

  • Cupcakes: whether homemake or bakery selected, add fresh blueberries, raspberries, strawberries or blackberries to add fresh flavor and colorful detail to these yummy treats. Add mini tooth-pick US flags to the cupcakes as a final patriotic touch.
  • Homemade popsicles: Hot day, cool treat. Popsicles can be as simple as two ingredients; fresh fruit with juice or lemonade. Freeze and enjoy! Another option is to combine your favorite yogurt with fruit, and freeze.
  • Fruit Salad; Blueberries, raspberries, strawberries, blackberries make a perfect berry salad with several serving options. The most obvious is a simple berry salad, add a little fresh mint. This fruit salad is a simple topping for vanilla bean ice cream.
  • Fairy Cake (Commonly known as Angel Food Cake); serve with the berry salad on the side, with a spoonful of sweetened whipped creme, or sliced strawberries
